Since tomorrow is the final of this years edition of the Champions League, this was the logical choice for Sportsong of the Week #6. If you love football, you absolutely know this song. And it gives you goosebumps already thinking about it being played when the players of Juventus and Barcelona walk onto the pitch tomorrow. We are of course talking about the hymne of the UEFA Champions League.
This official anthem, simply titled "Champions League", is a commissioned work of Tony Britten in 1992. Tony borrowed heavily from George Handel's "Zadok the Priest", but gave it a modern arrangement and included lyrics. The lyrics are probably not known by a lot of you. You probably mumble or sing them phonetically. But from now on you will know what they are singing! Because it's not that complicated! Read the full lyrics below and be prepared to sing it with your friends tomorrow at the start of the game! The main event, eine grosse sportliche verantsaltung, une grande reunion!
